Alexander's Birthday

We're getting closer to 'now' - Alexander's birthday was at the beginning of this month - he has just turned 9!

Time for another "I can remember when he was a baby" photo.

Alexander at 6 hours old - my 1st photo of him.

For Alexander's birthday we had booked the bike centre too - as we had done for Olivia's birthday see here - but instead of friends for the bike centre we did a family time, as we had family visiting from the mainland and the house would have been kinda squishy.

Even the grown-ups had fun at the Bike Centre!

So we had friends come around the next day and watch a movie (Monsters Vs Aliens) and they had fun eating pizza, popcorn, chips and chocolate!

Update - finally!!

I'm back - again!

Today to start a proper update - like I said I would do a month ago....

As it's been two months since I posted anything properly I thought I'd do one post a day for the next few days about what we've been up do - cause a few things have happened in the last two months - and to do them justice I can't cram them all into one post.

So we'll start with Olivia's 7th Birthday!

My baby turned 7!!!! It seems like yesterday I was waiting for her due date and holding my little girl!

We had a birthday party for friends at "The Bike Centre" - it's an old empty reservoir that they have painted inside and have put traffic light up and walk signs so the kids can take their bikes and ride around like mad things!

It's as cheap as to hire from the local council, and there is a BBQ and a sheltered area too if it does rain- not that the rain stops the kids.

(Ryan thinks Olivia's his girlfriend anyway)

And then the next day we had a party at home for family. It was either 30 odd people at the bike centre for 2 hours and Olivia not getting to spend time with everyone, or 30 odd people in our house - which would be kinda squishy! Or the two birthdays - which works easier for my sanity!

The cake! They are meringue "grubs" on the top.

More opening presents.

Back later on with more!

Four to go!

I learnt to knit as a child - if you can call holey scarves knitting....
I branched out as an adult - to knitting more scarves - these ones without holes...
And then when the children came along I got as far as knitting booties - I was too afraid to knit anything more - the patterns looked too complicated for me.

Nearly 2 years ago a magazine subscription came out called "The Art of Knitting."

Every week you get a ball of yarn and pattern for knitting a15cmx15cm square - and at the end of 90 weeks you end up with a throw rug.

As well as the square pattern you get different patterns for knitting things around the home, clothing, bits and pieces, plus step by step instructions for creating certain patterns when you knit, how to fix any problems you may have - it's just such a complete reference and resource!

I decided that the throw rug would look gorgeous on our daughters bed and discussed with her that I would complete it for her as a birthday present (this August). She was excited by that.

I now only have 4 squares left to knit!!! YAY! That will be one project finally finished!

A few photos of the work in progress.

With 54 of the squares all sewn together.

The remaining squares (minus the last 4) partially sewn together.

Birthdays, Colds and Farm Town

It was my birthday last Friday - another year closer to the big '30'. It was the nicest and least stressful birthday I've had in a few years - no family all decending at once - it was a quiet day on the Friday - I had lunch with Mum, Dad and hubby followed by dinner with the in-laws and that side of the family - so no fuss no stress!

I have been thoroughly spoilt this year - Tupperware, nice smelly lotions etc to use in the bathroom, and some vouchers and $$ - so I can do some shopping - YAY!

But the shopping will have to wait until I'm over this cold/flu.... darn thing started as a sore throat about 2 weeks ago and then went away.... now it's back (the sore throat), but it's brought it's mates blocked nose, headache, stuffed up feeling and achey joints....

So far the kids are OK, hubby has it too... but has the 'Man' version of it, so it a thousand times worse than anyone else.

Being at home today is allowing me to persue current addiction to Farm Town on Facebook.... Another one of those applications where you become addicted for a short while, before realising that you do have a life outside of moving cars (Parking Wars) or getting people to join your mob (Mob Wars).

Farm Town is addictive - you earn money as you plant and harvest crops, help friends and neighbours out - and even just logging in everyday!
I have an assortment of animals, trees, vegetables and some farm stuff - like fences and hay bales...

The addiction is that if you don't harvest your crops shortly after they become ready to harvest they die and you lose them - meaning you have spent $$ and get nothing in return... So you have to check on a regular basis...

Off to plant some more crops!
